Background

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision. This funding is ring-fenced to be used for sport specific areas to make an impact in Physical Education and Sport in schools.

Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and Sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

Swimming

All children in Key Stage Two have six weeks of swimming lessons a year. We work towards the national goal that by the time they leave primary school, children are able to:

  • Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
  • Use a range of strokes effectively
  • Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

In 2021 92% of our children achieved this by the end of Year 6

In 2022 95% of our children achieved this by the end of Year 6

In 2023 92% of our children achieved this by the end of Year 6

Badminton and Archery are popular!

Skipping - promoted in our recent Skip 2B Fit workshops is proving a favourite pastime.  See more on our Sports page by clicking on the logo -

Also have a look in our photo galleries to see our awesome skipping children (and teachers!).

Hockey is another popular game the children can play at lunchtimes.

Street dance is good for learning some 'moves' and improving your rhythm!

Netball club members are very keen and can be found outside in all weathers!
